There are a couple new loft developments or developments featuring some lofts and loft style features currently on the market and selling! it's not too often that we see such developments come to market so we are a bit excited! Vancouver, hands down has the most loft buildings in B.C. and with good reason.
Sometimes you'll be able to find some loft style apartments in large condo developments outside of Vancouver for example Tandem in Burnaby has a handful of double height lofts and so does this new development called Origin which is located up Burnaby Mountain at Simon Fraser University. The area around SFU is becoming a very practical place to live and is not just for crazy college kids any longer... if it ever was ;). The community has a lot to offer now; grocery store, a childcare centre, an elementary school called University Highlands, fitness facilities, and being surrounded by nature you will definitely want to spend sometime in the outdoors hiking the trails and exploring. Origin is made up of 75 homes. Unfortunately they are not all lofts but on the plus side all of their lofts are located on the penthouse level and have up to 18' ceilings and range from $445,000 to $525,000. The developer is Porte Development Corp. who have built over 1,500 homes since '74 including Ginger in Vancouver on Main St.! Check it out!
The 2nd development worth mentioning is HQ which is being developed by the Century Group, a real estate development and property management company. Also an experienced developer with projects in the Lower Mainland and the Fraser Valley. HQ will be located in Vancouver's Marpole neighbourhood where you'll have easy access to the Canada Line, YVR International Airport, University of British Columbia, parks, eats and shops. Homes are priced from $299,000 for a Jr. 1 bed from 509 square feet and 2 bedroom plans up to 963 square feet. HQ will be concrete construction and one of the greatest features is that it is a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) targeted building.
